I live in Ottawa with my wife Sebnem and our daughters, Nevra and Rana. I have backpacked through 34 countries, where I have acted in an Indian soap opera, wondered around Palmyra virtually alone (thankfully in 2010, before the Syrian civil war), and cycled around Angkor Wat. When not spending time with family or writing research articles, I cycle and play volleyball as much as I can.
